Lewis Cheng

Lewis founded KD Capital and brought in a multi-talented team dedicated to broadening his reach and scaling his approach to nurture early stage companies across multiple categories. Having studied Human-Centric Design at Cornell University followed by a MBA from Stanford Business School, he has an eye for detail, a finesse for design, and a strong business acumen. Lewis believes that KD Capital's commitment to the companies we invest in, just like we have to our own family, is to dedicate our time, expertise, network and enthusiasm to give them the best chance to succeed.

Eric Steinmeyer

Eric has spent most of his career in the consumer products industry, working for vertically-integrated manufacturers of toys, sporting goods, home decor, and commercial lighting in senior management roles. Originally from the United States and an alumnus of Cornell University, Eric has worked for the last 21 years in Hong Kong and China and managed sales and logistics operations in Europe. Eric was most recently on the lead team to open a US-based after-sales service and Mexico-based manufacturing operation for a leading consumer goods company and later joined a Hong Kong start-up as COO to commercialise a new proprietary LED lighting technology. Eric brings a wealth of commercial experience to the team and works with our invested companies on deal negotiation, risk management and growth strategies, among others.

Brian Kim

Prior to joining KD Capital in 2021, Brian was an investment banker for 15-years at Credit Suisse and Mizuho Securities where he successfully raised over US$300 billion of capital for his clients in the APAC region. Brian’s banking experience focused on originating, structuring, and syndicating public bond offerings for his clients in the financial institution, corporate, and sovereign sectors. Prior to banking, Brian started his career as a FinTech consultant at FIS, implementing fixed-income trading systems for global financial institutions. Originally from Los Angeles, Brian has lived in Asia since 2004 previously based in Tokyo and currently in Hong Kong. Brian holds an Economics degree from UCLA.

Oliver Goulden

After graduating from Warwick University in the UK, Oli worked at Ogilvy & Mather in London, Shanghai and Hong Kong for 11 years. His marketing experience spans across many categories including FMCG, apparel, pharmaceutical and luxury goods, and through multi-channel disciplines. He specialises in brand & marketing strategy, and has run fully integrated teams covering performance, content and social marketing. During his final two years at Ogilvy he set up a consultancy to help grow the social enterprise community in Asia, through both start-ups and corporates. Oli led the marketing team at Grana, a fashion start-up funded, among others, by Alibaba and Golden Gate Ventures before starting his own ventures. He is trusted advisor to the KDCAP team.

Eric Szweda

Before joining KD Capital, Eric was the Managing Partner of Troutman Sanders' (now Troutman Pepper) Hong Kong office. There he grew the size of the office by 5X, producing revenue growth exceeding 27X. Eric brings broad-based, global legal expertise, with a keen interest in intellectual property law. He has been recognised globally as a leading lawyer, including being ranked by the China Business and Law Journal in 2017 as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in China. Eric is an alum of Cornell and Vanderbilt Universities.

Joe Lee

Joe studied at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of London, and AICPA US. He worked for Hang Seng and BNP banks for over 12 years and specialised in credit analysis and commercial lending. After this he joined different private sector companies for more than 10 years, covering international trading, retail and manufacturing. He is experienced in start-ups, developing strategy for growth, corporate transformation and management team formation.
